Passkey Signing

Let signers confirm their signature with a passkey, their device's built-in biometric (Face ID, fingerprint) or a hardware security key, using WebAuthn. Phishing-resistant and bound to the signer's device.

How it works

WebAuthn at the signing step

Before completing their signature, the signer completes a WebAuthn passkey check with Face ID, a fingerprint reader, or a hardware security key. No password to type, no code to wait for.

Credential recorded as evidence

The verified credential ID and the authentication result are captured at signing time and stored alongside the rest of the signing evidence, timestamp, IP address, and device details included.

Shown on the certificate

Passkey verification appears on the Certificate of Completion and on the public verification page, so anyone reviewing the signed document can see it took place.

Why it matters

Stronger than an email link alone

An email link proves someone with access to an inbox clicked through. A passkey proves the person controlling a specific, registered device authenticated the signature. That distinction matters more as forgery and deepfakes get easier to produce.

Resistant to phishing

Passkeys are cryptographically bound to the origin they were created for. A lookalike signing page cannot capture or replay the credential the way it could a password or a texted code.

Counted in the Signer Evidence Score

Passkey verification contributes 20 points toward the platform's 237-point Signer Evidence Score, the same score printed on the Certificate of Completion for every signer.

20/237
Points a passkey check adds to the Signer Evidence Score, a weighted identity and engagement score printed on every Certificate of Completion.

Availability

Passkey signing is available on Professional plans and above. Signers need a device or security key that supports WebAuthn, most modern phones, laptops, and browsers already do.

Add passkey verification to your envelopes

Turn it on for any envelope on a Professional plan or above. No extra integration, the signing page prompts the signer automatically.
