One or two sutures typically close the wound. - **Incisional biopsy:** A portion of a larger lesion is surgically removed for pathologic diagnosis; the wound is closed with sutures. - **Excisional biopsy / excision:** The entire lesion is removed with a surrounding margin of normal-appearing skin. The wound is closed with layered sutures. Margin width depends on clinical diagnosis and anatomical site. - **Curettage and electrodesiccation (C&E):** The lesion is scraped with a curette and the base is treated with electrical current to destroy residual abnormal cells. No sutures; heals by second intention. Appropriate for certain superficial BCCs and benign lesions. - **Cryotherapy:** Liquid nitrogen is applied to destroy the lesion by freezing. Used for benign lesions (seborrheic keratoses, actinic keratoses, warts) and selected superficial skin cancers. **Procedure-specific details as discussed with your clinician:** ___________ --- ## 2.
